What I am learning about article marketing

About a week ago I am I doing a search about marketing and come across article marketing. So I sit back do some reading and find out that article marketing is a great way to get back links to your site, which I understand is a great thing. I do a search of article directories and find out there are 1000′s so I go to one, sign up, then go through the process and I’m thinking that this is going to take forever!

There must be some kind of script for this so I search for a article submission script, download it, get it configured and come to the following realizations after doing some more in depth homework: (I did a manual article in hub pages and learned that what should have been easy really is not all, because my article got reject twice)

sending some poorly written article out to some non-relevant article sites will do nothing for building quality traffic, just imagine that you have your link on an article that is sitting on someones automate article script and the page is about pharmacy stuff and you are now linked to this site forever or until it or you drop away for lack of clearly understanding this marketing principle
getting a back link on a non relevant or saturated key word will not make me rank higher in the search engines, in fact just the opposite and will also get me banned from a bunch of article networks
many of the best page rank article directories that have 1oo,000+ pages indexed will no longer accept marketing type articles with links to your program or offer. (even cloaking the link with no get your article submitted)
many of the best ranked directories do not want to see duplicate content so you can kiss the spinner feature good bye.
sure you can send your article out to a large block of directories but at what cost? Is this just quantity of quality

I recommend that you go to the top 50 directories and start submitting articles just to understand what it is they are looking for. I marvel at the fact that everyone feels that this can be done without any consequences. I can see the effects of this blind posting when I go to the directories and pull up the marketing categories. What they are now looking for is articles of high quality and that are well written.

Once you have submitted a few articles the will be much more accepting of your future article submissions

Remember that what you do now will have a huge impact on your business down the road
