Over the years I have spent a great deal of my time working 12+ hours a day with very few holidays or time off. Much of that really was my on fault and I that I allowed it to continue was just plain nuts.
I have always work in a very stressful job and have even owned my own brick and morter business, there’s always a ton of stuff to do and managing a staff of 30+ can have its moments. (My desire for freedom is so strong that it’s at the top of my mediation list everyday)
Over the last year I have worked hard to become more free. I wanted to share some of the things that I’ve done that have freed a good chunck of my time so I can focus more on building a business that will allow me all the time freedom I want.
Thinks that I have done on my Job/Work
- I have taken a staff phone list home with me so that I don’t have to go to my job to call some one when a staff member dosn’t show up or is sick (like this morning)
- I keep this phone list updated (this was always hard for me and don’t ask me why because its a really easy thing to do
- I keep a 2 or 3 persons in my hopper in case I have to make some fast changes to staffing or had to let someone go, this safety net allows some piece of mind
- I hire doers not talkers. I assess my new team members quickly and just plain give them more responsibility
- I document everything right down to when I talk with person, see the last post as this one thing has really helped me so much
- I make a point of eating (I used to go all day without eating and then gorge at night in one sitting, definitely not great for my body at this age)
- I have set strick boundries about when the staff can call me and in fact I document this as well and continuosly reinforce this with any new staff that come on and the more senior staff make sure they groom the new hires fast
- I train and I train
- I inform and I inform
- I keep the expectations really high everyday as I give everyone on the team a specific task daily and I do check for completion
Stuff that I have done at home
- I have reduced the amount of tv by 3 hours a day
- I buy only organic and healthy things for food
- I eat fruits and vegetables
- I have a green drink everyday
- I work really hard at keeping the house clean and have someone come in to help once in a while
- I read everyday
- I meditate daily
- I listing to self development tapes everyday
New Venture
- I write one blog/article a day
- I syndicate that content once a day
- I learn something new about my business everyday
- I research something new that I can add as an extra affiliate income stream
- I write an article everyday
I work on this daily and then repeat if you want to learn more about why I have created this system visit my page
