Changing deep rooted patterns

When I got into recovery it was natural for me to want to learn more about myself as a person, learn more about my spiritual nature and work on those areas of myself that weren’t working. The program would call that my character defects.

As time passed I never thought that it would be time to stop the seeking and move into a period of action. I call the past 20 years of my life as self-development overload.

You will notice that the wall behind me is just loaded with books, most of the self help books, I have 4 hard drives filled with ebooks, self improvement tapes, downloads, programs and I have attended many seminars like Anthony Robbins, Harv T. Ecker and on and on.

The point of the video is that at some stage I needed to move into action and how I did that was as follows:

  1. A large part of procrastination is sub conscious, if I  didn’t know something then I made it a point to learn how to do it and take the time to learn it to the best of my ability
  2. I needed to understand that every time I had to do something that was new there was going to be a period of time where I will be uncomfortable. Sometimes I needed to force myself to press on and do it anyway
  3. I am where I am Kbecause of your habits whether they are good or bad. I had to change those habits, by creating better habits. In the video I explain that I made it a habit to write, post and syndicate something everyday, because this was essential in helping me build my persona and business online
  4. I made it a point to make one new connection online. This was done through email, or a visit with a sponsor etc
  5. I would do something on my blog to help enhance traffic or provide a better experience to the people that are visiting the blog
  6. I would make it a point to learn and complete 1 new thing (today I made it a point to learn about Camtasia, a video tool for putting together video presentations)
  7. I would do a meditation daily

Create new habits and then the old ones will drop away. Learn more about what is holding you back from becoming the person you know that you can become, visit Joshua’s Blog
